Ordinary self‐consciousness as philosophical problem

Anscombe distinguishes two notions of “self-conscious”: the philosophical notion, which refers to special form awareness one has oneself as oneself, and ordinary we employ when speak “feeling self-conscious before another”. My aim in this paper is show that self-consciousness cannot be understood terms either forms intersubjective relation standardly acknowledged literature. It reductively, psychological states each subject nor can it an irreducible second personal relation. Instead, I argue order understand phenomenological structure self-consciousness, must rehabilitate Sartre's thought am conscious myself being object another's gaze, experience acted upon by them, such a way what them doing me thereby undergoing are aspects interpersonal transaction.
